Early Life and Influence
Growing up in Clayton, NC, Briggs was often teased for his thin frame, but this did not deter him. Instead, it fueled his passion for fitness and sports. Beginning singing at the age of eight, he set out to earn a college scholarship, training under his father’s guidance with the band Evolution. Despite early struggles, he excelled for a long time, setting records in Johnston County during high school.
At the age of 15, Briggs faced a major setback when he underwent back surgery for scoliosis. His recovery was quick, and he came back strong, competing in indoor and outdoor sports, eventually participating in the Outdoor Nationals with New Balance.
Academic and Athletic Tour
Briggs’ high school years were marked by perseverance. Balancing school, training and personal struggles, he almost retired during his junior and senior years. However, interest from college recruiters revived his desire, which led to an outstanding senior year with many state-level successes.
